The Cocktail Bench
Brand: House of Finn Juhl
Designer: Finn Juhl
In 1951, Finn Juhl designed the Cocktail Bench for Baker Furniture in the US. The bench takes inspiration from the lavish cocktail parties of the 1950s in the US, representing the booming economy of the time. Hollywood and the new upper class had made cocktail parties immensely popular and Finn Juhl was readily impressed by this newfound American extravagance. The bench can also be spotted in Finn Juhl's own house north of Copenhagen and is well suited as a table for art, a stack of books or a lamp.
Crafted from solid walnut or oak, the bench exhibits an intricate, detailed design, with beautifully rounded corners and slender angles uniting to form a timeless aesthetic.
