The 46 Armchair
Brand: House of Finn Juhl
Designer: Finn Juhl
The 46 Armchair embodies excellent comfort and high quality materials, representing the very best of Danish Modern furniture design. It was originally designed in 1946 for the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild Exhibition for master cabinetmaker Niels Vodder. In the years between 1947 and 1949, Finn Juhl modified the chair into a simpler, more aerodynamic version for the furniture manufacturer Bovirke.
In this version of the 46 Chair, Finn Juhl clearly attempted to emphasize the lightness of the chair by separating the carried and the carrying elements. Beautifully crafted from a solid wooden frame in oak or walnut, combined with a seat and backrest upholstered in either textile or leather.
