Spaltekanden is Eva Stæhr-Nielsen's best known work. Spaltekanden works both as a jug, a vase and as a sculpture for anywhere in the home. It was in production from 1933 until the workshop closed in 1968. The slit jug is stoneware with egg white glaze - and is handmade in Portugal.
The shape of the slit jug arises from a unique use of a turned high, narrow neck that is cut through. One part is bent forward as a pouring spout, while the other part is bent backwards and down towards the jug as a handle.
